Review
I wasn’t totally sure what to expect with Hunting Daylight, but the surprise was pleasant enough. I held off initially because the cover quotes a fellow author stating it has “vampires and nonstop sex.” That’s all well and good, but I wasn’t up for a PNR at the time. However, when I finally got to it I found a that I stumbled upon a pretty smart story. Vampires, while powerful in their own right, are a little more realistic. They get diseases, they age, and they have offspring which are capable of powers of their own. Even more interesting, vampires aren’t always compatible with hybrids. I won’t explain further so as not to spoil it, but the workaround are intriguing.
The story is told through multiple POVs which is nice, though not necessary since most of it is in third person. I like when an author provides a POV of the villain which we see here. It’s always more exciting to get into their whacked out heads and experiencing how they rationalize what they do.
Occasionally the writing felt a little drawn out and flat, but the end was well done. Some plot lines are left unresolved, but I’m hesitant to consider it a cliffhanger. This is the second book in what I imagine will be an ongoing series. I didn’t read the first one but I didn’t feel lost here, so I would say that reading the first one is not a requirement to enjoy and understand the story. There’s some science involved, but it’s not at a level that would go over the average reader’s head. It’s actually pretty interesting.
All in all, I recommend the series. I think the cover trying to market it as a sexy paranormal romance does the book a disservice on both ends. Readers looking for a different kind of vampire tale more plot oriented may overlook this book, and someone that nabs it hoping for paranormal romance may find themselves disappointed. Honestly, out of 530 pages that might me 30 pages dedicated to sex, but it’s sprinkled throughout the novel. That does not sound like “nonstop sex” to me, but you be the judge.

Hi Erika, I am glad you contacted me about this. I haven’t been receiving any of your blogs. I just thought you was taking time off. I think the last I heard from you was when you asked your followers how we would purchase Ever After. Its been awhile. Your blog seems to be a success and is growing. I hope I can one day get mine set up. I don’t know much about what I’m doing. I need instructions and help. I may get my site up in the year 2020, LOL.
Enough about that, that’s not what I need to be writing about. I am a follower, when I can find you,LOL. The book sounds interesting Erika. Thank you for letting us know about the giveaway and giving us all the chance to win. I have my fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks, Angela! Yeah that post was the last time before the switch. As for your own blog, you really learn by doing. It helps to have an established site to walk you through it, like wordpress. Overall there lots of trial, error, and doing things bit by bit. There’s still stuff I want to do, but I’m just super busy and then trying to figure out why my followers weren’t getting updates was a whole other nightmare.
Great giveaway!!!
The book sounds good.
Thanks.

Very good review, much appreciated. I have been avoiding books that are marketed and/or referred to as erotica or with lots of sex because I’m at a stage where I’d just as soon skim those parts or avoid all together; its all becoming the same! Have even delayed reading some old go-to authors for this reason. But steamy is wonderful so long as its CREATIVE and necessary to the story! So please enter me for this giveaway since it seems like this is a good one and a new author to me. Thanks!
