I’m going to do a quick poll this weekend because I am conflicted as to which novel I want to start this coming Monday, though I may leave it ongoing to decide which series should follow. Hopefully you guys can help me out! Keep in mind that I typically like to read books in a series back to back, so the longer the series, the longer it will take for me to get to something else.
Option 1
Grave Witch (Alex Craft #1) – I’ve been meaning to get around to this series for some time. I’ve heard good things and book 3 was released this July.
Option 2
First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson #1) – another series that I’ve heard good things about. The fourth book is due out on October 30th (along with like…3 other books I’ve been eying >_>).
Option 3
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress #1) – Cat and Bones, I know I know. It’s taken me a while to get around to this one because I was pretty unimpressed with one of her spin-off PNR novels. But I hear this series is more UF and many seem to like it, so I’ve finally come around to being willing to give it a try. This series has 6 books out already and I’ll be honest and say that even though I have polled it, I likely won’t read this first since it already has so many books out. I honestly only added this to the mix because “Grave” seems to be a pretty popular trend here when it comes to these titles, and I find that amusing :P.
Option 4
Midnight’s Daughter (Dorina Basarab #1) – I have my quirks with the Cassie Palmer series, namely Cassie, but I’ve been told by a number of people that Dorina is actually more likeable. The third book is due out on October 2nd, a date that is fast-approaching.

Hmmm. I’ve read the first two in the Alex Craft series but the author is dragging out the triangle so I’ve shelved that series until it’s completed. I just have no patience for ove triangles anymore. Bleh.
I read the first Cat/Bones book and never read any further into the series. It was okay but I didn’t much care for Cat and as a result I had less respect for Bones for liking her. LOL.
So basically my choice would be one of the other two. Now to decide which one…. 🙂

I got book 1 of Cat/Bones really cheap a while ago so it’s kind of just been sitting around. Since it’s already out to a pretty commanding lead I may read it first anyway and then just break it up between the other books.
I’ve not read Alex Craft either and I absolutely adore Darynda Jones while thoroughly enjoying Chance’s various series and Jeaniene Frost. So, my vote went to my unknown *grin*
LOL! Well I know one series has an early commanding lead, the one I said I probably wouldn’t read firt. But if it’s going to be THAT far ahead I may have to change my mind lol.

The Charley Davidson series (First Grave) is very awesome and is LOL funny! Not to mention a sexy, other-worldly bad boy who is hot as hell…literally!
I voted for Halfway to the Grave because I absolutely love Cat & Bones. The first book may be a little awkward for some because the characters are getting to know each other. Once you get into the series, they are funny, fast reads.
Both series’ have ass-kicking female leads and super sexy male leads. You can’t go wrong with either!
Well both have certainly started out with pretty commanding leads at this point. If Night Huntress wins by a significant amount, I may start with it first but I’ll definitely have to break it up between the series since it will take a while to get through all of those books.
My vote went to Midnight’s Daughter! That whole series is da bomb!
I’ve also read Grave Witch and Halfway to The Grave… Grave Witch would be my second vote and HTTG would be in my 3rd spot…. Jeaniene Frost writes good romance but I feel like you’ve read one of them you’ve read them all.

Thanks for the input, Val! I have this concern about out Cat and Bones too, that they are so hyped up I may not be as blown away as the majority, especially considering how much I wasn’t feeling her PNR spin off.
You really need to read Midnight’s Daughter. I loved the Cassie series (mostly for Pritkin) and these books were the first time I’ve actually really enjoyed a spin off series. DO IT!!!!
Prikin is my favorite part of the series. I don’t like Cassie, so overall it’s a struggle for me, but I’ve decided to go with Midnight’s Daughter first since it’s leading. So far I like Dorina more already!
I vote for Grave Witch since I am totally underwhelmed by Cat & Bones, and First Grave on the Right & Midnight’s Daughter don’t grab me as much. I do want to read them though, just not first.
Thanks for the rec! It’s still a tight race! I’ve decided to go with Midnight’s Daughter, but the rest won’t be far behind thankfully. I’m concerned tha Cat & Bones won’t quite live up to the hype for me since I was really unimpressed with Frost’s PNR spin-off, but I’ll give it a shot.
